All four have filed their candidacies under the party affiliation of Student Action--Unite Greek--Apple Engineering.
Rafi is a second year pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He is currently an ASUC Senator with Student Action and a member of Delta Chi Fraternity, where he served as Rush Chair this semester. He is also a member at large at the Jewish Student Union, as well as an active member of the Computer Science Undergraduate Association. Rafi and his team of interns in his senatorial office are organizing a large-scale program called “Celebrate Cal” that will take place on Memorial Glade in late March. The event will bring together a wide breadth of student groups and organizations to unite them under the common goal of fostering collaborative campus community. Rafi is also a former delegate to the Jewish Greek Council.
Chen-Chen is a third year Business major, and is a current ASUC Senator with Student Action. He has served the Cal community as the Social Chair of the pre-law fraternity Phi Alpha Delta, a Family Head for the Asian American Association, and is a co-founder/board member of the Professional Fraternity Council (PFC). Chen-Chen is most proud of his coalition-building experience and his involvement in an immense range of student groups speaks to his accomplishments.
Safeena is a third year Media Studies major, with a double minor in Public Policy and Theatre. She currently serves as the ASUC Vote Coalition Deputy in the EAVP office, ASUC Student Resources Deputy in the EVP office, and as Alumni Chair in the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Safeena is also a former ASUC Senator and an Education Policy intern in Senator Dianne Feinstein’s office in Washington, DC. In her illustrious ASUC career, Safeena has vastly improved accessibility to the ASUC in a variety of avenues including the residence halls, the Greek community, and numerous student groups via her role in the EVP office. Also through her leadership, the ASUC Vote Coalition registered over 8000 students to vote in the 2012 elections. Finally, Safeena engages with the campus community by serving as a Campus Ambassador, where she is a member of the Leadership Team.
Ryan is a second year pursuing a degree in Business Administration, having recently been admitted to the Hass School of Business. He is a current ASUC Senator with Student Action, and also serves as the Associate Chairman of the East Asian Union coalition, and as Treasurer for the Korean-American Students Association. He is also an active member in the Christian community, regularly attending Fellowship in Christ Berkeley (FiCB) and Living Water church. Ryan is committed to improving the student experience at Cal; both inside and outside the classroom. His work with AAVP Gavello has inspired him to continue the tangible results her office has brought, such as the 24/7 opening of the SLC.
Student Action has a long track record of delivering tangible results. From the AC Transit Pass to dead days to The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF) to Bears Breaking Boundaries to Spring Welcome Week to the BEARS initiative and most recently, the 24/7 hours at the SLC, Student Action has upheld its core values of providing a platform for every student voice and enhancing the quality of student life. In addition, we will continue to be strong advocates for major policy changes related to academics and campus development. We plan to carry forward this legacy of delivering effective results and emphasizing student voice for the entire student body.
The executive slate will enter this election season ready to follow the accomplishments of the current Student Action executives. The Student Action executive slate has ambitious plans for increasing educational affordability, protecting vital student services, and revitalizing campus life.
Our highly qualified senate slate will be released at a later time.
