Senate Platforms
Institutionalizing an ASUC Peer Support Forum
I have noticed how inconvenient it is to access information online. I will create a website that will help students be more aware of the numerous resources that are available to them by providing an interactive forum where students can connect with their peers, ask questions, and receive information for students, by students.
Expanding Career Opportunities for Freshmen and Sophomores
Traditionally, career fairs are geared mainly towards juniors and seniors; freshmen and sophomores’ needs in this area are underrepresented. I will collaborate with the Cal Career Center and Haas-Sponsored business contacts to provide more programming events and workshops for freshmen and sophomores.
Creating a Unified Christian Community
Currently, I feel that the Christian community on campus is segmented and provides for little collaborative opportunities. I will work with Unity In Christ to increase integration and cooperation between fellowships, create and publicize more inter-fellowship events, and establish a monthly coalition of representatives from members of different fellowships.

Hometown: Walnut Creek, CA
Hey Cal Bears! My name is Katherine Chung and I am running for ASUC Senate this year with Student Action. I am currently a freshmen intending on majoring in Business and/or Media Studies. I'm originally from a little town in Southern California called Walnut but people always think I'm from the City of Walnut Creek up north. During my spare time, I love to hike, play piano, hang out with friends and family, and discover new places to eat.
Here at Berkeley, I am the Residence Hall Assembly Representative for Unit 2 Davidson, a health educator for Peer Health Exchange, actively involved in the Christian community, and an intern for Senator Emily Chen. Getting involved in various groups on campus has made my first year in college so fulfilling and rewarding. I'm thankful to have met so many individuals who have inspired me to not only take a more active role on campus, but also to reach out and represent the different communities at Cal.
Thank you for all the ongoing support and encouragement. I love Berkeley and would be honored to serve the school as a voice for my peers. Please don't hesistate to contact me if you ever want to make a new friend or have any questions, concerns, or suggestions! I'm here with open ears!
