Senate Platforms

Expanding Opportunities for Undergraduate Research
Cal is a premier research University, yet undergraduates are unable to find research opportunities. I will create and expand research fairs hosted by graduate students from different departments. I will also create an online database that will systematically assist students towards getting research positions specifically.

Increasing Student Resources for DeCals

For the hundreds of student-run classes on campus, obtaining funding is an inefficient process. I will reapportion DeCal funds so each class fully utilizes the monies provided for them. I will also work with the DeCal Program to unify clubs that also run decals, allowing them to apply for greater funding in a simpler manner.

Providing greater access to academic peer advising

This next year will see a restructuring of academic advising through Operational Excellence, a multi-million dollar effort to increase excellence and efficiency at Cal. I will work to institutionalize collaboration between advisors and experienced student mentoring groups by creating
monthly roundtables between the two parties. I will also incorporate student experience and knowledge within the new advising platform.

Hi all! My name is Pavan Upadhyayula and I am running to be one of your ASUC Senators! I am currently a sophomore intended Pre-Med MCB Major. I love meeting people, magic and captivating stories.

In my time teaching a decal on sleight of hand and magic, I have worked to create a community of magicians on campus. Moreover, by joining both a professional fraternity (Phi Chi Pre-Medical Fraternity) and a social fraternity (Lambda Phi Epsilon) I have seen just how diverse and interconnected the students of this campus are.

It is my honor to be given this opportunity to represent the students of Berkeley. If you have any questions about my platforms or the elections in general feel free to contact me. I hope your respective semesters end pleasantly!
