Improving Academic Advising
Currently, advising is extremely difficult to navigate. I will establish a listserve for academic departments to provide students with up-to-date information on news that advisors deem pertinent, such as major requirement changes. I will also make advising schedules more transparent to ensure that students find the support they need to succeed.
Strengthening the Presence of the Catholic Community
The Catholic community is extremely dispersed across campus. I will establish social justice programs to create various opportunities for Catholic students to contribute to the betterment of the overall campus. I will also advocate for an Interfaith Conference, and ensure that a safe meditation space is included in the planning of the new Student Union.
Advocate for Spring Admit/FPF Students
Spring admits deal with a lack of communication and resources. I will increase communication during the fall semester to make them feel welcome and supported. I will also fight to allow every student the right to sign up for Callisto upon signing their SIR and provide them with networking opportunities upon entry into Cal.

Hometown: Mission Viejo
Hey everyone! My name is Kyle Shackleford, and I am running to be your next ASUC Senator with Student Action! I'm a second year Political Economy major with a City & Regional Planning minor from Mission Viejo, CA. I'm the oldest of four, and have taken it upon myself to turn all of my family into Cal fans. Needless to say nearly every present I give them is something blue and gold. In my free time, I love to swim, read a good book, and explore the Bay Area.
During my time here at Cal, I've been extremely blessed to be a part of so many amazing communties. I am an active member of the Catholics at Cal, serving on the Student Ministry Team. I am also a brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon, a mentor with Project S.M.I.L.E., an executive intern in Law in Practice, and also work as a Campus Ambassador.
I feel so humbled by this opportunity to serve as your next ASUC Senator. I love this university so much, and would be so honored to be your voice in our student government. If you have any questions, want to know more about my platforms, or even want to come on one of my tours, please don't hesitate to contact me (or find the blonde kid walking backwards in front of the Campanile). Thank you and GO BEARS!
