Senator Sahana Rajasekar

My name is Sahana Rajasekar and I am a third year Electrical Engineering and Computer Science major.

I am so excited to be one of your ASUC Senators for the 2012-2013 academic year! In my free time I love to play soccer, listen to music, web design, and of course, eat. I am part of the a capella group, Dil Se, and am a member of the sorority Tridelt and professional engineering fraternity Theta Tau. I am also actively involved in the Society of Woman Engineers, Association of Woman in EECS, IEEE, and Berkeley Innovation. My first two years at Cal were amazing so I am really excited for this year, Go Bears!!

Senator Rajasekar's Goals

1) GEEK STATION: FREE TECHNOLOGY HELP ON CAMPUS
A majority of students on campus own some sort of computer but do not necessarily have the technical knowledge to solve computer related problems. The Geek Station will allow students to drop in and get help with everything computer related from professionals absolutely free of charge.

2) IMPROVING CELL PHONE SERVICE IN ENGINEERING BUILDINGS
Engineering buildings on campus such as Etcheverry, Soda, Cory, Stanley, and the Bechtel Engineering Library where engineers spend hours working, have unfortunately weak cell phone signal. I will work with the Engineering Department to actively tackle this problem and possibly work on implementing the solutions all around campus.

3) PROMOTION OF MENTAL HEALTH
As students go about their busy lives, balancing the demands of academics and work, stress is often an unfortunate side effect. I hope to promote and create more opportunities for students to put their personal well-being first. Working with University Health Services, I want to remove stigmas associated with seeking help and increase mental health awareness around campus.
